Lions Clubs – Where There’s A Need, There’s A Lion
Stephenville Lions Club is proud to sponsor and assist with several events in and around our community. From sponsoring our local cadets, and school breakfast programs, to individual and team sports; partnering with other organizations and committees to host Stephenville and Canada Day events. We open our building to community fundraisers and local service groups.
Each month, on the second Thursday, we host a Community Cafe for all members of our community. Regardless of your social standing, financial ability or employment status, everyone is welcome to join us in the Lions Den from 11-1 for a free meal.
#1 Emergency Center for Stephenville
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians know all too well the devastating effects our adverse weather can have on us. Unseasonably cold temperatures left most of Newfoundland in the black for extended periods of time during the winter of 2014. Flash floods are no stranger either, here in Stephenville, we all remember the flood of 2005. All municipalities, as well as home and business owners are encouraged to take every precaution to prevent damages caused by such weather or other large scale disasters.
We all have a responsibility to be safe and know the risks. But there are times when there are no warning signs.
The Stephenville Lions Club has been deemed the #1 Emergency Center for the Stephenville area. Should an emergency or disaster occur, listen for updated forecasts and follow any special instructions emergency officials provide.

708 Stephenville Air Cadets
The Stephenville Lions Club believes in empowering our youth to become leaders in our community. For this reason, the Stephenville Lions Club is a proud sponsor of the 708 Air Cadets Squadron.
School Breakfast Program
Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador is a registered charity that supports the education, health, and well-being of school age children in Newfoundland and Labrador through nutrition programs run by volunteers at schools and community centres.
The majority of programs offered in schools throughout the province are breakfast. These programs welcome all children regardless of financial standing, with no charge to families. It is through generous donations that 240 Kids Eat Smart Clubs operate with the help of 6, 000 volunteers…that’s 22,000 meals served every school day.
The Stephenville Lions Club is proud to be a major contributor to this worthwhile program, donating $5100 this past fall to our local schools to ensure our children have the nutrition they need to learn, to grow, and to be their very best!

Any group, organization or charity wishing to make application for funding from this draw should make application in writing to: Indian Head Co-op, 50 Carolina Ave, Stephenville, NL A2N 2S3. Upon approval, disbursements will be made quarterly.
Serving a free meal on the second Thursday of the month since October 2011, the Stephenville Lions Club, in collaboration with the Southwestern Housing Stability Initiative, have offered nearly 6000 meals free of charge to all community members.
Community Cafe is not just a free meal, but for its patrons it has come to be a family unit. It offers social inclusion, a chance to meet new friends, a wealth of health and nutrition information, and local entertainment.
Sponsored by local businesses, organizations and agencies, the Stephenville Lions Club is happy to do their part by offering their building to host the Community Cafe.
Come meet our Community Cafe family at the Stephenville Lions Club Den on the second Thursday of every month from 11-1. We can’t wait to meet you!
