Lazy Days of Summer? No Way!

While summer days may be meant to be lazy and carefree, the Stephenville Lions continue to keep busy doing what we love best… being out in our community.

Since June there’s been lobster boils and bbqs, celebrations and open houses, cafes and bingos. We’ve paid respect to those who have fought for our freedom at Beaumont Hamel; we’ve worn our reds and whites on Canada Day. We’ve made many new friends during our Community Cafes and opened our doors and celebrated our youth during International Youth Day. Our bingos have been super busy with many come-from-aways and old friends coming back to say hi. Our Community Garden grows greener by the day.

Many came through our doors seeking a special and unique gift or souvenir during our Friendly Invasion Craft Fair. We continued to support our future generations through donations of school supplies for local schools with Block the Bus campaign, as well as, sent supplies to Nain, LB.

As we get into our new Lions year, we have to take few moments to look back over this past year and thank everyone who has helped us in any way give back to our community. We have been graciously able to assist so many worthwhile organizations and causes through help of our bingo patrons, those who rent our building, and browse our craft fair tables. Together we have donated over $75,000 in our local area.

First year, we are proud to have elected our first female club president and welcomed 13 new members bringing us to a healthy and active club of 55 members. With more we can do more.

We look forward to an exciting new year, with new adventures and meeting new friends. We are always looking for friendly, outgoing community-minded volunteers…if that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you..message us on Facebook.
