A beautifully designed and hand-crafted traditional Newfoundland komatik, built and donated by Lion Jerry Patey, was filled with children’s toys, home decor items, chocolates and much more was placed on tickets. As draw date of Dec. 22, 2017 approached many in the community were looking for tickets to purchase, but unfortunate for them, the 700 tickets printed were sold out with a week to spare.
Posing for a pic with Chris White, the gentleman with whom she works offering respite support, she and Lion Jerry Patey recalled another similar presentation made 19 years before. In 1999, Lion Jerry was the president of the Stephenville Lions Club when they presented to Ms. O’Quinn a stroller built for 4. In December 1998, Ms. O’Quinn gave birth to four beautiful children who became, affectionately known as, the “Quads.” Although today her children have outgrown many of the toys in “Santa’s Sled” she was excited to see the smiles on the faces of the “many children who will be happy with these toys” as she has plans on giving away most of her prize.
Thank you to all who helped support us in this fundraising effort, together we raised $1200 for Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp.
